Share Your CRPS Journey

Everyone has their own personal journey with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and their own story to share of living with this chronic condition. Whether you are living with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, a relative or friend, or care for someone with CRPS, it can be a diffifult and rocky path.

Knowing that there are other people out there who are having similar issues and experiences can be helpful. Sharing your CRPS journey could provide the encouragement, reassurance and support that someone needs in dealing with their own experiences of CRPS.

Why Share Your CRPS Story?

Still unsure why you should share your CRPS journey? There are a number of reasons why you should share your CRPS story with us in our CRPS blog, including:

  • Raising CRPS Awareness

The more stories that are shared about Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), the more awareness can be raised about the condition. Even though the CRPS is considered rare and poorly known or understood, CRPS was in fact described back in the mid-16th Century and then formally described during the American Civil War during the 1800s. Learn about the History of CRPS via this link.

However, CRPS certainly needs more awareness and so, by sharing your own story of CRPS, you can show others that CRPS does exist and share about the problems or any myths related to this life-changing chronic condition.

  • Encouragement and Support

Sharing your CRPS story can also give some much needed reassurance to others in a similar situation to yourself. It can also encourage other CRPS patients by letting them know that they are not alone with this debilitating condition.

Many people who read our CRPS stories often realise that they do not need to suffer on their own and there are others who are having similar problems or are at a similar stage as themselves.

  • Therapy, Acceptance and Self-Esteem

Taking the time to write your story for other CRPS patients and their families to read can help you to start on the road of acceptance of your CRPS. It can help give you a boost to your own self-esteem and confidence. Knowing that there are other CRPS patients and families who are in need of support and that you might be able to help or reassue them in some way can give you a real confidence boost and can also be a form of therapy to get all your thoughts about your CRPS journey down on paper.
