New Treatments Being Researched

There are a number of CRPS treatments being trialed at the moment, some of which can be found on our Latest Research page.

The main new treatments being researched at the moment include:

  • CREATE-1 trial – This is trialing Oral Zoledronate. Zoledronic Acid is from a group of medicines called bisphosphonates (pronounced bis-FOS-fo-nayts). Zoledronic acid inhibits the release of calcium from bones. We will share the results to the website when they are published.
  • STUDY CRPS-I – This trial has now stopped. The drug that was trialled, Neridronic acid, had very strict criteria to join the trial including that it is only for CRPS-I. The trial is for Neridronic acid with placebo.
  • ST PANCRAS CLINICAL RESEARCH – St Pancras Clinical Research have run CRPS research studies for patients with CRPS, irrespective of how long they have had the condition.
  • HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY or HBOT – Up until 2016, there had been no proper information about HBOT for CRPS sufferers until the case report by Katznelson, R. et al. (2016). Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a treatment that delivers 100% oxygen at increased atmospheric pressures.
